Why Camp Matters for Your Child.
Summer camp is more than games and campfires. It is a place where children grow in confidence, learn to relate to others, and discover who they are away from home. At Pearce Williams, we hear this again and again from parents when their children come back from camp.
Every year, we ask families what they notice after camp in our parent surveys. Their answers are very clear. Almost all parents tell us their child comes home more confident. They see children who are more willing to try new things, speak up, and take on small responsibilities at home.
Parents also notice big changes in how their children get along with others. Almost all families say their child improves at making friends and interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds. Many campers come home talking about cabin groups, shared jokes, and new friendships that feel like they could last for years.

Belonging is another theme that shows up in almost every survey. Nearly every parent tells us their child felt included and part of the camp community. For some campers, this is the first place where they feel fully accepted for who they are. For others, camp deepens existing strengths and gives them the courage to lead.
Parents are also clear that the environment at camp matters. All families in recent surveys said their child’s counsellor was a caring leader and a positive role model. They also said camp gave their children plenty of chances to be active and outside. In a world filled with screens, a week of fresh air, play, and face-to-face connection makes a real difference.
For many families, faith and values are an important part of that difference. At Pearce Williams, campers are invited to grow in kindness, gratitude, and care for others, in a Christian camp setting that welcomes and respects every child. Parents often tell us they see this when their child comes home more thoughtful, more thankful, and more willing to help.
When we put all of this together, a clear picture emerges. Camp is not just a week of fun. It is a rich, guided experience that helps children grow more confident, more connected, and more grounded in who they are. These are outcomes that last long after summer ends.
Give your child the chance to grow in these ways again this year. Give them another summer at camp. Register for Pearce Williams Summer Camp 2026 and let them keep building confidence, friendships, and faith-filled memories that will stay with them for life.
