CIT Program @ Pearce Williams Christian Centre
For Ages: 15 (by July 1st 2017)
The Counsellor-In-Training Program is for youth who want to learn, like working with children and want to work at camp in the future. The program includes a one week training camp and then two weeks of cabin placement working directly with a counsellor - you will learn to do by doing. Contact Joe Richards (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information and to set up an interview for your CIT camper.
Date Ranges 2017:
Counsellor-In-TrainingAdventure Training Week - Monday, July 3, 7:00pm to Friday, July 7, 4:00pm
There are then two placement weeks over the rest of the summer.
The CIT program is one that involves an interview for acceptance. The interview process will determine the level of commitment of the applicant and make sure that the applicant knows what is expected of them. To be a CIT is to be a Counsellor-In-Training, but also a Camper-In-Transition. CIT's are still campers, but much more is expected of you than of our younger campers.
Check out what some past CITs have to say about their experience in the program!
“Being a CIT was one of the best decisions I could have made. I met so many amazing people who encouraged me to be myself and do my best. Pearce Williams has played a crucial role in making me the person I am today. I met some of my best friends in CIT year and we are still close to this day. Most of my favourite memories from camp happened over the course of those three weeks. The CIT program was when I first discovered I wanted to work with children for the rest of my life and because of that, I am now enrolled in a Concurrent Education program to help me become a teacher. Without camp, my life would be so much different. Working at Pearce Williams is always the highlight of my year. Every time I drive down that laneway into camp, I get super excited. Because of camp I am a better person. The CIT program allowed me to break out of my shell and be myself. I am a strong leader and have better initiative. The transition from being a camper to a counsellor is indescribably rewarding. I looked up to them for the many of years in which I was a camper and it was so cool to finally become one of them. I am now a more confident person and have more faith in myself. Camp helped me grow and eventually blossom into the person I am today. Camp may only be for a few summers, or even one, but the effects are endless. " ~ Krumpet, 2012
“It was one of the best experiences of my life. I made so many new incredible friends, learned so much about team building and leadership, I got to interact with the campers and make a positive impact in their life, and create a closer bond with the staff. It was so much fun and I honestly wouldn't trade it for the world! It is an amazing steppingstone into becoming a counselor and it gives you a little sneak peek to what's in store!” ~ Clover, 2015
